Talking Down To God For HIM To "Step Up"

Here's yet another instance which demonstrates the sheer ridicule and hypocritical, pompous self-righteousness of those who proclaim themselves as people of deep and "true", Christian faith:

Minister delivers divisive invocation at McCain event

The Iowa Independent reports that a minister who spoke at John McCain’s rally in Davenport, IA today injected a divisive statement into his invocation. Here’s what Pastor Arnold Conrad said:

I would also pray, Lord, that your reputation is involved in all that happens between now and November, because there are millions of people around this world praying to their god — whether it’s Hindu, Buddha, Allah — that his opponent wins, for a variety of reasons. And Lord, I pray that you will guard your own reputation, because they’re going to think that their god is bigger than you, if that happens. So I pray that you will step forward and honor your own name with all that happens between now and election day.

Got that?

This insufferably arrogant, parochial, intellectual sloth-driven fool is actually talking down to God!

Now, let's put aside that this also constitutes another instance of the result of fear and loathing directed against Obama, emotions already stoked to a brazier by McCain-Palin. Instead, let's focus on a more direct point: I'm no expert on matters of faith and all but ... whatever happened to "prostrating yourself before your God Almighty" and other such acts of humility before "God"?

Just goes to show once again how religion, faith and, especially, fundamentalism, constitute nothing more than tools to control the intellectual sloth-driven ignorant and fearful.

I guess this is just another day in The Kingdom of God, eh?

Good thing God doesn't exist - otherwise this fool would have most certainly been struck down by Divine Might for such arrogance and effronterie towards the Almighty Creator.
