Radio-Canada Just Announced ....
... at 10:00 PM EDT, that the next government will be again a CPC one. It is not known at this time whether it will be a minority or majority one.
(sigh)
(I'll wait until tomorrow to futher comment - especially once it is established whether Harper will lead a majority government, a minority one, or even should the LPC-NDP-BQ band together to form a coalition government ... if possible)

I am so depressed and angry.
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, if it wasn't for Quebec and Newfoundland (to a lesser degree), we would definitely have a majority Harper government.
I am so pissed off with Layton that you cannot believe how much I loathe the party at this moment. I watched toooO many individual poll results to see freaking major vote splitting that led to Conservative victories.
On the other hand, I do hope he does take this windfall to bring the Conservatives down and doesn't dare vote with Harper on any freaking crime bills like he did last time.
The LPC will have lots of soul searching for the half-assed campaign they ran. If they'd been any better, they would have taken many more seats in Québec, since folks here obviously did not want Harper anymore (and thus a lot of folks voted BQ).
ReplyDeleteThe NDP will need to better specify its platform, along with some good sense pragmatism injected into it. Layton did a good job, but his platform sunk him and the party.
Look - we go back to ON and QC and even BC, for that matter. If the LPC and/or NDP can't make any significant headways there, then ...
We get back to where we are again (at best) ...
