I Know What A McCain Administration Will Be Like
I'll go out on a limb here (heh) and predict yet another victory for Obama, with McCain looking even more the old, angry, frustrated and erratic old man.Easy bet - I know.
However, I would like to dwell further on McCain's defense of his base, as well as his ludicrous "offended virgin" act (which he played fully again last night) while avoiding to address the issue of the dangerous smear attacks on Obama by Palin and the rest of his campaign advisors, organizers and workers - smears which he ends up supporting in the end by his "weaving, lurching and tap dancing" around the crux of the effect such smears are having.
First, we have yet another taste of those McCainites/Palinites McCain so staunchly defended last night and for which he has so much pride and respect:
Then, we also have this:It was kind of strange, dintcha think, that John McCain came to the defense of his supporters last night after Barack Obama pointed out that people at McCain/Palin rallies were shouting out "terrorist" and "kill him!" in reference to Obama.
Now an Al Jazeera camera crew caught the honest sentiments of McCain/Palin supporters at an Ohio rally:
“I’m afraid if he wins, the blacks will take over. He’s not a Christian! This is a Christian nation! What is our country gonna end up like?”
“When you got a Nigger running for president, you need a first stringer. He’s definitely a second stringer.”
“He seems like a sheep - or a wolf in sheep’s clothing to be honest with you. And I believe Palin - she’s filled with the Holy Spirit, and I believe she’s gonna bring honesty and integrity to the White House.”
“He’s related to a known terrorist, for one.”
“He is friends with a terrorist of this country!”
“He must support terrorists! You know, uh, if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it must be a duck. And that to me is Obama.”
“Just the whole, Muslim thing, and everything, and everybody’s still kinda - a lot of people have forgotten about 9/11, but… I dunno, it’s just kinda… a little unnerving.”
“Obama and his wife, I’m concerned that they could be anti-white. That he might hide that.”
“I don’t like the fact that he thinks us white people are trash… because we’re not!”
Confirmed: McCain To Appear With Virginia GOP Chairman Who Compared Obama To Osama Bin LadenNow, I believe John McCain is sincere when he deigns to correct his partisans or when he states that Obama is a decent, family man, trying desperately to distance himself from the ugly monster of hate that he and his campaign have awaken and keep on whipping into a frenzy.
Earlier this week, Time magazine’s Karen Tumulty reported on how Jeffrey Frederick, the chairman of the Virginia Republican party, gave GOP volunteers talking points on “the connection between Barack Obama and Osama bin Laden.” “Both have friends that bombed the Pentagon,” Frederick told 30 volunteers. “That is scary.”(...) Frederick, for his part, is standing by his words. “It is just the hard facts,” he told the Washington Post. Despite Frederick’s outrageous comments, McCain is set to appear with him in Virginia on Saturday:
The McCain/Palin campaign announced today that Senator John McCain will visit Virginia once again this week. The Republican Presidential nominee will hold a campaign rally at the Prince William County Complex here in Woodbridge on Saturday, October 18th.
“Prince William is the key to Senator McCain winning Virginia, and his visit here will only reinforce that Prince William is McCain country,” said Delegate Jeffrey M. Frederick, Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia and a member of the Virginia General Assembly from Woodbridge.
Contacted by ThinkProgress today, the Virginia Republican Party said that Frederick is “expected to be there on Saturday.” During the debate last night, McCain said that “every time there’s been an out-of-bounds remark made by a Republican, no matter where they are, I have repudiated them.”
Hence, based solely on the way John McCain has been "leading" his campaign and his campaign people, I think I know exactly what an old man McCain administration will be like - should he manages somehow to win the elections on Nov. 5th:
There he will be, sitting regally in the Oval Office, disagreeing strongly with what the people of his administration will be saying/doing, without actually doing anything about it. No public repudiations, no firings - only playing the offended virgin whenever being called out for what people in his administration are saying/doing, and paying lip service in showing how he disagrees with what was said and/or done in his name. Thus I give you a McCain administration.
And that will be it.
No putting his own people in their places or reigning them in.
No control over his own people.
No control over himself.
No taking responsibility for himself and/or his own people.
No leadership.
Any questions?
