90 Minutes Into Obama Vs McCain Round Deux

- McCain: "American is goooodgoodgoodgooooood!!!! We can do no wrong because we are a force for GOOD! Like in Iraq, like in Afghanistan! Yaaaay!" (holy crap)

- Obama: "Iraq was wrong because it took sights off bin Laden in Afghanistan. Iraq strained our budget ... Bad economy = inability to act as peacemaker. Oh - and I agree that America is a force for good."

- Obama on "Obama Doctrine": we go in only if there is a clear moral obligation - we can't stand idly by when there is genocide and/or ethnic cleansing. But the US can't be everywhere at once - the US must work closely with allies.

- McCain on "McCain Doctrine": Obama was wrong on Iraq, he's dangerous. Yes we have to intervene in humanitarian crises, but I have the steady hand and experience to do this, not Obama. We go nin only if we do not make a situation worse (say - is he talking about Iraq here?!? Hehehehehe ...)

- so in short, the McCain Doctrine is "Obama must not lead us, whereas I am a leader to be trusted" ... (yawn)

- Obama explains again why Iraq was a mistake (cuz obviously, McCain just don't see it, the idiot warmongerer that he is). Obama states that current coddling policy with regards to Pakistan must be changed (I agree).

- stop the presses!!! McCain finally admits that leaving Afghanistan was a mistake! (wow)

- But McCain repeats the lie that Obama called for the invasion of Pakistan (groan) ...

- Obama counters with "bombombomb Iran", "next stop: Baghdad" and "obliterate North Korea!" - heh.

- McCain dissembles (and he looks pathetic doing it!)

- McCain: I know how to get bin Laden - but will not telegraph my punches - so don't ask me how I will do it, but I know how to catch him and I will get him (yeah - right)

- Obama: we withdraw troops responsibly from Oraq, make Iraqis more responsible for themselves and redeploy troops to Afghanistan. A democratic government responsive is required for Afghanistan to work - not a dictator.

- McCain: for Afghanistan, "In Petraeus we must trust" and use the same strategy (read: "surge") as in Iraq ...

- McCain on Russia: we won't have another cold war, but we must make Russia more responsible as a wealthy nation. Oh, and Putin = KGB = baaaad. WE must allow Georgia and Ukraine to get into NATO. Poor Georgia (yawn). Russia must understand that such actions are not acceptable and we will use all our leverage in response.

- Obama on Russia: I will act even more hawkish than McCain in helping former USSR satellite countries to shore up their economies ... (?!?) Then he gets evasive and all over the place (ouch - methinks Obama dropped the ball in so many ways here ...)

- Russia under Putin = Evil Empire? McCain: maybe. Obama: no, but they are very much too nationalistic (ya know - what about all the imperialistic adventurism of the US, guys? Sheesh!)

- Israel time (yawn). McCain: "no waiting for UN Security Council if Israel is attacked (say, by Iran) and we go in right away (the he repeats the lie about Obama ready to sit down in talks without preconditions - double yawn)." Obama: "we can't allow Iran to get nuclear weapons - since these could also get in the hands of terrorists (holy shit! Are you kidding me?!?). I will do everything required to prevent this (man - do I ever disagree with Obama on this, as much as I do with McCain). In any case, we should have talks not only with friends but with enemies, to enact change."

"Da Call" in shortly ...
