20 Minutes Into "Le Débat des Chefs"
Just wanted to say: oh yeah! Now that's a debate, baby! Just the way I like'em. Round table, tit for tat, anything goes. Nothing scripted, no questions vetted - all open debate buffet! they even have pre-recorded questions from regular folks.
Nothing more healthy for a democracy than that!
Economy is THE subject so far and Harper is getting h-a-m-m-e-r-e-d. And rightly so.
(Hell - even Stéphane Dion is coming across as commanding and clear-heade, straight-to-the-point here, whereas Jack Layton not only keeps improving on his French, he's also coming across with his points. Even more surprising: Elizabeth May is doing well French speaking-wise and manages to hold her own rather well. Of course, Gilles Duceppe is most at ease in this kind of debate - not just because it is in French. As for Harper - now I know exactly what a besieged incompetent looks like when on the defensive ... More later on)

Layton was calm and that was good. Dion also spoke with more strength than we have seen in the past. Duceppe of course owned this debate. I think May struggled with her French but I could still understand her points and she did nail one by quoting the OECD report on the economy.
ReplyDeleteBut seriously, Harper really looked like he hated being there. To me, he looked like he felt he was surrounded by inferiors. His tone was 100% smug.
All I can say is - yup ;-)
